At the begining of the year as i was unable to pay my mortgage i handed the keys to my building society.I realised that i would be unable to pay any arrears, and thought this would be the best way. It would appear that it was not the case, and they are now looking to make a payment plan for me to pay the £20,000 which was the short fall between what i owed on the mortgage and what the building socirty sold it for. I am devastated and dont know where i stand. I am a single person who is finding it hard to make ends meet even now, let alone be in a position to pay towards the shortfall To top it all i have been informed by my local council that i am in arrears on the council tax for my previous address. I know that the arrears were paid in full before i left the property. When i spoke to the council they informed me that they would need confirmation from my building society that the arrears were paid. The council inform me that with charges i owe them £1500() with £500 being taken from my pay last months and another £500 due to be taken out this month This is a problem in itself as my building society are not being cooperative due to the arrears on my previous maortgage Please help |

Could you also expand on why the council tax people need confirmation form the building society about whether the arrears was paid? Where are you wages being paid? If it is with the building society you previously had a mortgage with then change it as a matter of urgency. Post back with answers. P |

Please expand a bit for us, because if all else fails you could send your b/society a S.A.R letter and get the proof of c/tax payment that way. |
