Hi all,
I need a little help please, I have offered a DC £25 a month for a debt of £250 I have written to them with this offer, however they keep sending me letters back saying they need to talk to me about the debt. I don't want to talk to them because they confuse me and I end up agreeing to things that I cant afford...hense why I'm in this situation...what should I do next?

Hi emmielou
Welcome to DW, I hope that you'll get the help you need. With respect to your debt, it is understandable that you don't want to talk to the credit company. However, resolution of your debt requires the DC to agree repayment terms. If they are not willing to agree anything with you until they actually speak to them, it will be difficult to get any form of agreement.

There are agencies like CAB and local authority consumer and debt advice which which may help you. However, as you can imagine , they are overstretched and may see your debt as a low priority. What I suggest is speak to the DC, do not agree to anything on the phone but ask for confirmation in writing. This way you can get advice from either ourselves, a friend or member of your family on what to do next.

George

Sounds like a great plan to me.
