People seem to be overwhelmed here, so I am just going to make a little step by step sticky.

Don't be offended if it seems too elementary. People have the best success when they accomplish little tasks along the way, it gives them the feeling that a large unmanageable task is possible.

The good news is that they are totally wrong. The formula for dealing with debt is exactly the same, every time.

Also, don't get caught up in how you got in trouble. Don't feel guilty, then you'll be stressed because you're beating yourself up AND you have this debt to deal with. It really doesn't matter at this point how you got here - you're here, let's deal with it.
THANKS

true but also when people have got themself so far into debt even the small steps do feel huge. Knowing how you got there helps with where they are going and will help future plans to get out of the situation.

If you're in big debt problem, cannot pay your bills on time, and really wish to avoid collection calls then you may want to consider debt settlement. This is where you negotiate with your creditors to reduce your outstanding debt. The creditor forgives the rest of the debt, helping you to get out of debt faster.

Well if you ask me I agree to you ... Things can easily get overwhelmed when it comes to financial crisis. So think yourself guilty is quite natural. But as you said its way better to deal with it and fight through it ! But yes do learn a lesson from your previous mistake is something you forgot mention.
