I've been reading this forum for quite a while now and was wondering if anybody could help me with my credit score? I have seen a couple of companies advertising in the Sunday papers saying that they can repair my credit record and remove CCJ's. Is this right and can anyone recommend any companies?

Hey Shaun
I wouldn't touch these credit repair companies with a barge pole! They can do no more than you and they will obviously charge you a hefty fee as well. The best way to improve your credit scoring is to firstly get copies of your credit report from the three main credit reference agencies, details here.

Next you must address any inaccuracies in the report. Sometimes information is held on your file longer than it should, ie if you have satisfied a CCJ, it may still be on your file as unsatisfied. Should something held on your report needs some factual explanation then you can add this, up to 150 words.

Finally, make sure when using your credit card or mobile phone that you pay on time, set up a direct debit to ensure this.

Let me know if you need more information.

George

Yeah I totally agree with the comments above. I got stung with one of these companies. It cost me the best part of £150 for them to do virtually nothing. a couple of credit reports form Experian and Equifax and that's my whack!! STAY CLEAR of these companies.
