Been to my CAB twice now and they did an income and expenditure and told me what i had available to pay my priority debts, have contacted these creditors and offered them an amount and they have refused. The main one is HMRC and they refused the payment and said they will start proceedings to make me bankrupt. I would like to know how long this will take?, should i stop paying any of my other creditors?, and should i open a new bank account now as my wages go in every week and one of my creditors is the bank. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

In this case it would be a waste of money to keep paying all your creditors. You definitely need to open a new basic bank account as your creditor will just take money from your account. P |

As for HRMC, will they not accept a token amount each month? I offered £5 per month and they accepted straight away! Good luck with it all, it will be a weight off your mind! |

As for a token payment to HMRC, i offered them £80 a month and they said no, i do owe them £12000 though and they said it was an unrealistic time scale to pay it back. Think it is crazy that they would prefer to make me bankrupt rather as get it paid slowly but its up to them. Thanks DJM |

I cancelled all my direct debits to any existing creditors and the citizens advice bureau has helped me immensely dealing with my creditors for example writing letters off. The creditors have accepted the payment of £5.00 per month for the catalogues and another lender of £20.00 pm... But its tight for myself and as I say I have now a date for court. I have been so stressed last 4 months Im so glad that Im able to go Bankrupt a big weight off my mind. Im not proud of it but Ive learnt my lesson about using credit the interest rates etc. I have now dumped all my catalogues...If anyone else has gone bankrupt because of same debts Id like to hear from them. Thankyou AK |
